Morning Calls
The App That Phones You Instead of Pinging You
You have muted, snoozed and dismissed every reminder app you have tried. A call is different, and the difference is not volume — it is that a call has to be answered or refused.
Is there an app that actually calls you in the morning?
Short answer
Yes. MaxDex places a real voice call at a time you choose — on iPhone through CallKit, so it arrives on your lock screen like any other incoming call rather than as an in-app sound.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. An in-app chime is a notification wearing a costume, and it habituates at the same rate. A native call interface carries the social weight that makes it harder to dismiss on autopilot.
You can decline it. The point is that declining is a decision, where swiping a banner away is not.
What does the morning call actually say?
Short answer
A short briefing generated from your own data: your priorities for the day, the specific first physical action to take, and how your energy is tracking based on recent sleep and activity.
It runs two to three minutes and it is two-way — you can add a task, move a planner block, or say what is blocking you, and Max acts on it during the call.
The script is built before the call from your planner, goals and energy curve, so it is about today rather than about productivity in the abstract. See how the calls work.

Why is a call harder to ignore than a notification?
Short answer
Because visual notifications habituate. After a few weeks your attention files them with everything else on the lock screen. Voice occupies a channel you have not yet trained yourself to tune out.
There is a second effect: a call arrives as a conversation, which means engaging with the question of what you are about to do. That engagement is precisely the step avoidance is designed to skip.
When should I schedule it?
Short answer
Most people set the morning call shortly after their usual wake time, deliberately after the worst of sleep inertia has cleared, and an evening call before wind-down.
Sleep inertia — grogginess after waking — has a documented time course of impaired alertness and decision-making, and MaxDex models it as decaying over roughly the first two hours. Scheduling a demanding planning conversation for the instant your alarm goes off tends to waste it.

Is it a wake-up alarm as well?
Short answer
It can serve as one, with a platform caveat. On Android, planner alarms play through the alarm audio channel. On iPhone, the Critical Alerts entitlement needed to override silent mode is built but still pending Apple approval.
So on a silenced iPhone today, the call will not sound. That is a real limitation and worth knowing before you rely on it as your only alarm.
